- Think for a moment about what you "knew" about handedness and left-handed people before you read this chapter. Which of your beliefs were correct? How has your knowledge of handedness changed?
- Now, think about yourself and whether or not you consider yourself right-brain dominant or left-brain dominant. Describe an incident in your life that either fits your self-analysis or completely contradicts it. (You should have taken the Right Brain-Left Brain Dominance Quiz by now. If not, go ahead and do that first!)

I already knew that right-handed people used the left side of their brain more and left-handed people used the right side of their brains more because growing up everyone was always curious as to why Lila was left handed and i was right handed. I also knew that some people think that left handed people are more creative because i always thought Lila was more creative than me. To be perfectly honest, i don't think i've learned anything new on the subject.

Before reading this chapter i didn't really know much about this topic. Surprizingly out of my 7 close friends four of them are left-handed me being right-handed i was pretty much out of the loop. I found them to be more creative also. Being right-handed and taking the quiz i found myself to be more left brain dominate.
I find the quiz an interesting springboard into the whole "How the brain works" topic. I'm right-handed, and fairly analytical and detail oriented... but I also write novels and enjoy art... so maybe I need to access my inner-left-handedness more!
I am all over the map on this one! I have good recall of names--great, really--but I don't forget faces. I don't feel organized and have been known to be very spontaneous in the classroom. I'm certainly more realistic than fantasy-oriented, and the list goes on and on! I think my responses were split right down the middle. Weird.
well i knew that right handed people use their left side of their brain and left handed people use thier irght side. i didnt really realize that left handed people were more creative. and i knew that i was right handed so i dont think i learned anything new.
My knowledge on handedness has changed a bit. I would always think it was that big of deal. "Oh, your left handed, great." Moving on, you know? But apparently there is more to it. Left-handed people seem to think a bit different than people who are right handed or can use both.
I think I am more on the left brain, for I just base things off of what I see right away.

I already knew you use the opposite side of your brain to your dominant hand.I already knew left handed people were special. However, that comes with a price because we are more likely to die due to some freak weed wacker accident because a large majority of products today are designed for right handed people. And I've taken the test and I'm 50/50. Perfectly balanced=)
Before i read this i didnt no anything sept that right handed people use the left side of the brain and left handed people used the right side of the brain. then after i read it i noticed left handed people are more creative. when i took the test i came out 50/50

i knew that there was a much larger majority of right handed people then left handers. I didn't know that we used the opposite side of our brains to function. this may explain why i have no creative talents what so ever. but i do enjoy art and other peoples creativity. And i am neither organized or detail oriented. This could mean i am all over the place or no where at all.
I was somewhat informed before I started this chapter and after I had read it I could conclude and what I had claimed to already know. After taking the quiz I realized that I am balenced 5/5.

i knew that the brain worked on opposites, left handed used right side and vice versa, but i didn't know that it would someone more creative if they used one side of the brain more.
-Patrick G
Before I read this chapter, like Patrick, I knew about the right side controlling left, and vice versa. As far as the quiz goes, I am more right sided dominant then left.

Well i didnt know a whole lot about left handed and right handed people and all that stuff, but what i did know is that it is more common to be right handed than left, and right handed people think with there left side of the brain and left handed people think with there right side of the brain. Now when i took that test i was almost split down the middle, it was very weird, i think i am crazy.

Before reading this chapter i knew that you use the opposite side of your brain to your dominant hand. I also knew that the percentage of right handed people was way higher than left handed people and that left handed people were more creative. Me being right handed totally explains this theory. h

To be blunt, I had some prior knowledge of what part of the brain directs the body/hands. But it got more thorough than that in this chapter.I learned 90% of human beings are right handed and only 10% are left handed. I was in awe. Im left handed so I was intrigued but this fact. I kept reading more and found out many left handers are artists and it was purely fascinating! I loved the dominance test, it proved my point that I was strongely dominate with my left hand. I am now more knowledgable than I've ever been.
I dont think i knew much about this chapter until i had read it.I now know more about left-handedness and right-handedness.I also now know how the left and right of our brains work.People who are left-handed with anything, to me are pretty cool!I for one am not a left-handed but a right-handed.I wish i knew how to write and do other stuff with my left!

I had some preconceived notions on the correlations between hand and thoughts. I don't know where I learned this but I heard that if you were left-handed you were supposed to be really artistic. I'd say i know a handful of "lefties" and this has proven to be about 50% correct... Due to my calculations I wouldn't rely on that belief.
I came out pretty strongly left brain dominant which makes sense because I am right handed (I can write in cursive with my left hand.... a 5th grader's cursive...)I did answer a few questions with my right hand though, I am generally more of a big picture person and rarely into details and I also love to right. But mainly everything made sense AND I think this tangent is long enough!!

Before i read this chapter, I just thought you were born being left- or right- handed. That is not the case at all. We all can wirte with both of are hands, but one part of the brain is more dominat.
I am right-hand dominant.I know this because when i used to play softball, I would throw with my right- hand and catch with my left.
Amber B
I was correct in thinking that left-handed people tend to be more artistic why right-handed people, like myself, tend to be more logical and mathematical. Although I am right-handed, I believe I can express myself through different variations of art pretty easily. I spend a lot of time composing music which backs up my statement of being able to express myself through art.
I already knew that right handed people use the left side of there brain and left handed people use the right side. this is very true being that i am right handed and got 7/10 for the left side. even though i am right handed i am still very creative.
Laura M
Before reading the chapter I never knew left handed people were found to be more creative. I'm left handed so that was kind of cool to learn :) It was also interesting to find out that the right side of the brain functions for your left and the left side of your brain functions for you right.
After I took the right brain left brain quiz I found myself to be both right brain and left brain dominate. I seem to use them both evenly.
-Adrianna M! :)
To be honest i didn't know much other than leftys were uncommon like 10% or something like that, then i knew that we used the opposite side of our brains more. Other than that i was really clueless, i learned that leftys were more creative and i learned a lot about the brain and which parts of the brains do what.
From this section i had already known that right-handed people controlled the left side of their brain. I was surprised at the results that i got from the the quiz. I turned out to be strongly right-handed when i thought i would be a little bit of both. I got 8 right and only 2 left!
One thing I learned is that left handed people actually have lots of advantages over right handed people. I always thought it was the opposite way around. After reading that, i kind of wish i was left handed. It would be cool to be good at art.
Before taking this class I realy didn't know much about why people some people were right handed and some left handed. And know after reading about it I undrestand that there is nothing wrong with being left handed.BEY BEY.......=)
I think it's strange how handedness means more than just which hand you write with. I had no idea that right handed and left handed people were so different. They say that left-handed people have more advantages than right-handed. I never thought about it but most of the famous artists are left-handed
I didn't know much about handedness before this unit. I know a lot more now. I learned that right handed people use left brain and vice versa. I found out that I am left brain dominant. I feel like I actually learned something from this unit.

Before reading this chapter i already knew that right-handed people used the left side of their brain and vise versa but i did learn that you have the same amount of strength in both hands its just how your brain works which i did not know i would have thought since im right-handed and i never dominantly use my left hand for anything that the right was stronger.
Michelle G
I knew absolutely nothing about the handedness and left-handedness people before i read this chapter. I now know that me being a left-handed person, I use my right side of my brain.
Before reading this unit I knew that left-handed people were known to be a little more creative. I thought it was interesting that a person can be strongly, moderately, or mildy left/right handed.
Courtney S
i have to agree with brittany D because i have a left handed cousin that is far more creative than i could ever be and is also a great visual artist. does being left handed give people an advantage?
To be honest i didn't know anything about being right or left handed. Now that i read the chapter i understand a little more about people who use there right or left brains.
