When I'm not teaching all of you here at San Benito High, I run a nonprofit called Annie'sBlankets, which collects bedding for animal shelters. Yes, I'm an animal person! I also ride my horse, Ruby, and spend a lot of time hiking my little blue cattledog, Scout. I graduated from UCLA (Go Bruins!) and am a passionate baseball fan (Go Giants!). I've also written five novels (none published) and am a believer in creative expression and lifelong learning. My husband, Mr. Achterman, is the librarian here at the high school and often our go-to guy.

This is so cool! I am McMillan, resident doofus of your Independent Study program. Not only do I teach here at the Independent Study Center, but I'm also helping coach the Varsity and JV Girls Soccer teams--GO BALERS!
When I'm not here, I'm at home chasing after my two Yardapes, Maddy and Seamus(ages 9 and 6) so I'm tired an awful lot of the time. I've got a 12-year-old Boxer/Hound cross who acts like he's still a puppy and he loves taking walks down to the beach almost as much as the family unit does. I am a Chico State graduate where I played both football and rugby. Like MrsA, I bleed the Giants Orange and Black and suffer every season they don't win a championship. And as a Niner fan, well, let's just say that this current team reminds me very much of the teams of the mid-70's. El STINKO!
Music is huge in my family.
Besides playing some very questionable guitar, I love many, many different genres and types of music. One could say my taste is eclectic.

I'm Katie. I went on independent study because I miss a lot of school for rodeo. My teacher, Mrs. A is the coolest! Rodeo is my life. I eat, sleep, and breathe it. I'm currently District 4's president in high school rodeo. I have five horses that take up just about all my time (and my parents money). That's me in a nutshell.

Im Brittany i've been on IDSP for two years and love it. I had no reason to go on it other than i hated being at school...My friends soon followed so now i have three close friends on IDSP too. I spend my days doing whatever comes up. I play hard and work hard. Wow this makes my life seem rather boaring , but hey it has its perks.

I've been on idependent study since my sophmore year. I'm a senior this year and its been great. We won TCALs for waterpolo, so exciting!!! I also do Track and Field, im one of the top shot put throwers, second only to my twin Lila. I'm hoping i will be able to get a scholarship to Sac State for shotput.

For the 1 year that San Benito High had a hockey team I played on that and well... it did not go well, but i'm still trying to get another one going. Other then that I lead a pretty normal life. Salutations to those of you who dont know me. I am destiny, pretty basic to remember. I'm a semi-average girl except I am 1 of the 10% of human beings who is left handed. I must say it's an honor. Ive been in Independent Studies for oh about 3 years now, I love it. I should mention I have an amazing instructor Mrs.Smith. She's more like a bestfriend than a fellow teacher haha. But anyhow, I love music. Everything in my life seems fun-filled with that in my life. I have a stray cat named babycakes who I feed daily. I'm an only child. I love it. I must admit I am a wee bit of a procrastinator but I always seem to manage just fine. I could talk for hours. That's a given as you see. Well, I wont take anymore of my space up.

My name is Marcus Synegal and this is my second year on IS i love it! My teacher is Mrs.A( I can't spell it!) but she's awesome, i actually look forward to my weekly meeting she's cool to be around and we have some pretty interesting talks! Anyway im 17 going on 30 it feels, like schools almost done, im visiting school its just a big mess but a bitersweet feeling if you know what i mean! Im a sports guy i love pretty much all sports, i played baseball for about 10 years then my sophmore year I decided to pursue golf and i love it! i played basketball aswell for two years in high school, but sports are huge and my family really backs whatever it is i want to play.( Thats a Whole other BLOG)

I'm Adrianna McManus but my close friends call me Nani! It's shorter and easier to remember, but you can call me which ever one. I've been on IS since my sophmore year and I am now a junior. I have the best teacher ever, Mrs. A! She's awesome. I am currently taking an ROP Dental Assisting class through Gav. to get my X-ray license and which I hope to further after I graduate to become a Radiologist. I have a ball python whos about four feet long named J.R. and have been playing the piano since I was 7. I've also been messing with turntables and a mixer for the past year, I love music and have been to see a lot of DJs spin from around the world, so I decided I'd give it a try :P! My name is Derek. I'm 18 years old and a senior at SBHS. CLASS OF '09! I decided to go on independent studies after some of my friends took it and said nothing but good things about it. It's definitely not something I regret. I got my pilots license when I was 17 years old. I worked hard for it since I was 13 and it really has payed off. In my spare time, I mostly play guitar, and soon I hope to pick up the bass. Love to fly, of course. I decided to take psych because the way humans act has always interested me.
